Shock Absorber Pads
Polyurethane shock absorbers are used in a number of different industries to absorb shocks. They are particularly useful in machines that involve high impact operations such as the Martin woodworking machines.
Using polyurethane is beneficial as the properties can be tailored to provide a high degree of shock absorption specific to the operation, and also provide durability, increasing the lifetime of the machinery it is used on, and reducing the likelihood of impact damage.
Polyurethane is used to make shock absorbers for the transport sector for aerospace and cars. Again the ability to cope with impact, vibrations and longevity are key. Most shock absorbers will require a specific design although Watts does make the Martin range as standard.
Shock absorber pads are available in a shore hardness range of 80 Shore ‘A’ to 95 Shore ‘A’. They can be manufactured in a range of colours to suit your need if necessary.
Polyurethane shock absorber pads are more ozone resistance than rubber and so avoid cracking as well as being able to withstand higher loads. Compared to rubber and to plastic the initial tooling costs are also lower for non-standard items.
